Paramore have announced that 'This Is Why' will be the first single from their long-awaited sixth studio album. Everything we know about Paramore's forthcoming new album.

Calling all Paramore fans - the new music drought could be over soon!

It’s been over five years since Paramore released their last album After Laughter, but that is all set to change, thanks to mysterious happenings with the band’s online presence and confirmation of new single 'This Is Why'.

Last November, Hayley Williams confirmed that Paramore would be returning with new music in 2022 after their hiatus. Fast forward to September 2022, and the band wiped all their old posts on Instagram and uploaded a new profile picture.

There was also an update to their official website , where a cryptic schedule with mysterious words next to certain dates appeared. Next to September 19th, they’ve written ‘start spreading the news’, while the 9th and 12th of September have ‘LA’ and ‘wr0ng’ written next to them. Is it a tracklist, a release schedule, a clue?!

Here’s everything we know about Paramore’s sixth album so far…

Paramore haven’t confirmed a new release date for the album yet, but there are some clues as to when we can expect new music.

Twitter account @hasitleaked, which posts rumours of upcoming releases, tweeted on August 30th that we could be expecting a new single in September. This has now been confirmed, as the band will release their first single, 'This Is Why' on Sept 28.

On the September 9th, a snippet of a new song was also shared on Paramore’s Discord in which frontwoman Hayley Williams appears to sing: “Bored, I’m bored, so bored, from the frontline / Quite the opposite, I’m safe inside.” This corresponds to the word ‘wr0ng’ on the band’s website schedule, with fans thinking it could be the title of the new song. It could also be 'This is Why'.

There are two dates on the schedule that don’t have anything written next to them - September 16th and September 28th. We now know that September 16th was when they were going to announce the new single, 'This Is Why', and September 28th being the single release date.

Despite the band feeding us info, one thing we’re not yet clear on is what the new album will be called. More info on that as soon as we get it.

On Sept 16, Paramore announced that the first single from the new album will be called 'This is Why'. The song is available to pre-save now and will be released on Sept 28th.

So far, 'This Is Why' is the only confirmed song title. However, fans are wondering if any of those words from their website schedule - such as ‘blank’ or ‘wr0ng’ - could be linked to the tracklist in some way. Watch this space!

We don’t know exactly what it’ll sound like yet, but Hayley has previously confirmed it’ll be more rock-centric than their last album.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, she said : “Our output has always been all over the place and with this project, it’s not that different. We’re still in the thick of it but some things have remained consistent from the start. 1) More emphasis back on the guitar, and 2) Zac should go as Animal as he wants with drum takes."

Then, in an interview in July, Hayley revealed the new Paramore album has been influenced by Bloc Party.

“From day one, Bloc Party was the number one reference because there was such an urgency to their sound that was different to the fast punk or the pop punk or the like, loud wall of sound emo bands that were happening in the early 2000s,” she said .

“They had their own thing and it was so unique and so dynamic, and it really stuck with us. And I’m really really thankful for this band, I’m so thankful that they’re back, they’re playing shows they’re putting out great songs, and it just makes me feel even more excited to get back out into the world, and maybe cross paths with the band that has been a huge part of our story from day one,” she added.
