An Alabama Girl Scout was recently featured on Good Morning America for her creative way of distributing cookies to customers.

Lydia Plant, of Enterprise, was featured during the show’s weekend segment about cookie shortages across the United States.

Plant, with the help of her family, designed a Girl Scout Cookie “vending machine,” to limit contact between customers due to the pandemic.

All a person has to do is go up to the machine, pick or say what kind of cookie they want and pay for their purchase using a Square reader on the side.

Once the order is dispensed through a mailbox like slot, the customer can bag their own order and go about their day.

More Alabama Girl Scout news:

Plant debuted the machine in 2021, in which it helped her break the state record for the number of boxes sold during one cookie season, according to the Montgomery Advertiser.

In 2021, she sold over 10,000 boxes of cookies.

“You can reach an impossible goal if you work hard,” Plant, member of Troop 9114, told the outlet in April of last year.

The Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama shouted out Plant in a Facebook post Monday evening.

“Congratulations to Lydia P. from Troop 9114 for being featured on Good Morning America this weekend,” the post said.

“Lydia created a Cookie Vending Machine for a contactless delivery option when selling cookies. Awesome job, Lydia!”
