Although, you might be thinking, “what is dulce de leche?” Well, allow us to explain...

Don’t know about you, but the second we hear the kettle go on, we automatically start craving biscuits. It’s like we can’t possibly have a cup of tea or coffee without dunking a biscuit in it. And by “a biscuit”, we actually mean between three and six biscuits – depending on what kind of day we’re having…

And the biscuits we’re dreaming of dunking today are these outrageously decadent dulce de leche caramel filled cookies from Tesco.

These sticky, gooey and dreamy biscuits are from the Tesco Finest range, so they’re bound to be excellent. And not only are they stuffed with a creamy caramel style filling, there are also caramel flavoured chocolate chunks for days in them!

So, you might be wondering, “What actually is dulce de leche? Like… is it just caramel?”

Well, dulce de leche is also known as caramelised milk or milk jam in English. It’s a confection from Latin America prepared by slowly heating sugar and milk over a period of several hours. The resulting substance, takes on a spreadable, sauce-like consistency. So, yeah, it's pretty similar to caramel, but even more decadent because of how slowly it’s made.

And here’s an idea for you from @johns_snackreviews: microwave them for 20 seconds to make the gooey dulce de leche even stickier and more delicious. But be warned – if you microwave them, check the centre’s not hot like lava. We can’t have you burning your mouth. These cookies are good, but they’re not worth a trip to A&E…
