During the Texas Showdown fighting game event last month, fans spotted a combo during the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 action that left players baffled. RFC|General Thrillah landed a combo that saw Iron Man on point, War Machine jumping in to assist, and a whopping 50% health depleted from the opponent in just one in-game second.

With that much damage occurring in such a short time, people were left stumped as to why this interaction produced such results. Content creator and Marvel 2 head Jmcrofts has put together a video that delves into this mysterious new set up and why it might work the way it does.

First and foremost, this combo is legit. Toward the end of the video, Jmcrofts tests this set up himself and it works exactly as it did in the tournament.

What's got people confused is why it deals so much unscaled damage so quickly. To figure this out, the avid Marvel 2 player tests various assists to see which deal the most damage and how they do it.

The conclusion is War Machine and Iron Man seem to tack on the most pain with their assists if they can land most or all hits of their multi-hitting assists. The problem is, it is very difficult to get an opponent stuck on the energy ball long enough to take 4 or 5 hits and deal optimal damage.

That looks to be the key of this combo from General Thrillah as Iron Man can hit crouching light kick into crouching heavy kick and call War Machine to catch the opponent perfectly inside the assist. When doing so, the foe takes more hits from the energy ball and thus loses a ton of health in short order.

There's a lot more explanation as to why this works the way it does here in Jmcrofts' video, so be sure to check it out below for the full rundown.
