The owners of Hando and Kanpai Club are readying their new Vietnamese-inspired restaurant and bar, Dinette, set to open late July in the Heights.

Described as a kitchen with “new takes on classic Vietnamese dishes and drinks,” Dinette will be located at 1018 N. Shepherd. As the name suggests, the restaurant and bar will be an intimate space, with seating for 50 including traditional tables, bar-height communal tables, and a full-service bar.

“A ‘dinette’ is a small space for enjoying food and drinks, and we feel like this word captures the spirit of our concepts, which is to welcome guests into intimate and discoverable dining rooms for them to experience excellent food, creative drinks, and thoughtful service,” said co-owner Jason Andaya.

The full menu has yet to be release but expect dishes such as summer rolls, caramelized tamarind wings, turmeric cod, braised pork belly on sticky rice and larger dishes such as brisket with puffed pho noodles. From the bar expect a selection of spirits, wine, beer, and playful cocktails such as the Jungle Jack Flash and Jean-Claude Pandan.

Hando, which opened in 2019, is preparing to open its second location soon at Spring Branch Village, 8217 Long Point.
