To increase the production of ‘laddus,’ the TTD is planning to modernise its ‘potu’ (kitchen) at the famous Tirumala temple of Lord Venkateswara.

The officials of all the departments concerned were instructed to come with appropriate proposals for the modernisation of the kitchen so as to boost the ‘laddu’ production to at least five lakh a day.

Speaking to the media, TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal said during the first phase of physical verifications the need for the purchase of additional ‘boondi’ frying machines as well as construction of platforms for the preparation of saccharine balls was felt and that would be addressed soon. Efforts are also on for the scientific utilisation of additional space if any inside the kitchen.

The need for the construction of a massive storeroom to stock the ‘laddus’ was also badly felt. The vacant space available abutting the ‘boondi’ making kitchen has been identified for the purpose.

The TTD is also not averse to the idea of taking suggestions from the renowned sweet makers like Haldiram and Sri Krishna in improving the working conditions at its temple kitchen, he said.
