The Great Food Truck Race returns on June 5 for its fifteenth season, with host Tyler Florence, who has had a long and celebrated career as a chef and Food Network host. On The Great Food Truck Race, teams drive around the United States in their food trucks, making stops in various places to sell food. The Great Food Truck Race season 15 is called, "The Hottest Season Ever," heading to the beach with nine food truck teams traveling along the Southern California coast. Tyler will host as the contestants face some of the most difficult challenges in the show's history. On the July 24 finale, the winning team will receive $50,000 to start their own food truck business, thanks to The Great Food Truck Race.

According to the Food Network official web site, this year's teams consist of Amawele's from San Francisco specializing in South African cuisine; Eso Artisanal Pasta from Morristown, New Jersey, who want to create a food truck that is a "show on wheels," where customers can see them crafting their handmade pastas and sauces; Food Flight from Atlanta making small sandwiches with global flavors; Girl's Got Balls from Fox River Grove, Illinois, serving non-traditional arancini balls; Maybe Cheese Born With It from Toledo, Ohio, creating loaded macaroni and cheese with gourmet toppings; Salsa Queen from Salt Lake City, Utah, making Mexican-fusion dishes; Sauté Kingz from Daytona Beach, Florida, specializing in international soul food dishes with an elevated twist; SEÑOREATA from Los Angeles cooking plant-based Cuban food; and Southern Pride Asian Fusion from Colorado Springs, Colorado, creating a mix of Southern comfort food and Asian cuisine.

Tyler has hosted The Great Food Truck Race since its debut in 2010. He is a renowned chef and a charismatic television personality, who has owned many restaurants and written several cookbooks over the years. Here are some of the highlights of his career.

In 1991, Tyler graduated from the College of Culinary Arts at the Charleston, South Carolina, campus of Johnson & Wales University. He was given an honorary doctorate from the university in 2004 for his success in the culinary world.
