Taipei, June 1 (CNA) Three bakers on Wednesday reproduced the breads that recently won them a prestigious baking award in Paris, in an effort to promote bakery machines made in Taiwan and local ingredients that ensured their entries stood out from those of their competitors.

The bakers Justin Wu (武子靖), Lee Chung-wei (李忠威) and Hsu Shao-huan (徐紹桓) led by coach Wu Wu-hsien (吳武憲) won first place in the team event “Gourmet Baking,” at the 2022 Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie, or Bakery World Cup, on March 29.

They were invited to showcase their creations at an event in Tainan hosted by a national bakery association as part of a series of nationwide tours for baking chefs to exchange ideas and share experiences.

Addressing the event, Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) thanked the team for choosing dried fruit made of Aiwen mangoes, which are mainly produced in Tainan City and Pintung County in summer, as some of their ingredients.

In addition to Aiwen mangoes, other ingredients such as golden jujubes from Yilan County and Dahu strawberries from Miaoli County are some of the other specialties from Taiwan the bakers used, impressing the judges at the competition, Huang said, according to a press release by Tainan City Government.

The event was held at a plant belonging to Hundred Machinery, a manufacturer of automatic encrusting machines, which the city government said has played a significant role in boosting the local baking industry.
