Helen M Hayden Obituary - Akron Beacon Journal

2022-05-14 13:58:43 By : Mr. Bruce zhou

Helen M Hayden passed away peacefully in Florida on April 25 at the age of 101.

She was one of five sisters that were born and raised in Akron. She graduated from Buchtel High, married Leo Hayden, and together they raised three kids and lived a family-filled life in Ellet.

She was at her happiest when she was at her sewing machine, whether making clothes for family, linens for the home, or one of the numerous Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls she made for family and friends.

Helen also loved hosting family gatherings with her sisters during the holidays. Known as “Aunt Honey” to all her nieces and nephews, her hosted gatherings always meant her special desserts: fruitcakes, Hungarian kiffle cookies, or poppyseed and nut kolache rolls.

After Leo retired, the couple spent several years traveling before relocating to California. Helen later moved to Florida when Leo passed away.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband V.L. “Leo” Hayden and son Samuel Hayden (Janice). She is survived by son Donald Hayden (Arlene) of California, daughter Linda Hayden of Florida, and daughter-in-law Janice Hayden (Samuel) as well as her five grandchildren, Michael (Tina Gaul) Hayden, Douglas (Tina Ruth) Hayden, Laurie (Christopher) Sanchez, Brian (Barbara) Hayden, and Mark Hayden.

Helen will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.
